rganic Cotton is Cotton grown on land that is free of many harmful conventional chemicals that interfere with natural cycles in our ecosystems. The land must be free of these chemicals for at least three years before a non-genetically modified seed can be planted and cotton produced be passed through strict certification to be labeled Organic.
Organic Cottons breathability, softness, and hypoallergenic properties are a few of the many reasons to wear Organic Cotton. There is a much bigger picture however, and so much more to Organic Cotton then just protecting your skin from toxic chemicals. Organic farming results in tremendous benefits to both farmers and the earth on a global scale.

Farming conventional cotton uses many synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides. The idea is that these additives help the cotton grow faster and prevent damage to the crops from bugs. However the consequences of these additives are very serious. The soil itself is eventually stripped of all living matter and becomes infertile. The cotton can no longer grow naturally, so farmers are forced to supply it with everything it needs to grow, including more synthetic fertilizers and huge amounts of water. The more pesticides farmers use, the more resistant cotton-eating bugs become, and the more pesticides farmers have to continue to apply. It’s a harmful cycle that doesn’t end.
When farming Organic Cotton, the earth is treated with care so that it continues to thrive and to give the cotton everything it naturally needs. No chemicals are added and no synthetic fertilizers are used. This means that even the water sticks around because the fertile earth keeps it there. The healthy crops that result lead to even healthier soil and the next generation of crops will be more abundant. When excess water does eventually run off into nearby streams and lakes, it’s not filled with chemicals or synthetic fertilizers. It’s a cycle that keeps getting stronger.
